 Behind the Scenes: Fun Facts

Quick note! The image shown above is my author's copy; hence, the band showing "Not for Resale." It was thrilling to receive my author's copy of the book that I couldn't help but immediately share the fun picture. Yay!

My vision behind writing Born of Dirt & Dust was to open doors wider for kindness, empathy, and compassion. I wanted fiction to connect people through their unique experiences, and to show how resilient and strong we can be—even in the face of trauma and struggle.

I decided on the book's structure as a thematic scaffolding of stories that flow through phases: what we have become, separation, transformation, and transcendence--a guide that takes readers through a journey of identity, love, and visibility.

Writing speculative fiction allows me to illuminate universal experiences--struggle, survival, trauma, resilience--by inserting human experiences in fringe worlds. It's a way for me to keep the stories vivid and emotionally charged.

My hope is that readers gain a powerful emotional experience, deeper empathy, and insight into human identity and resilience. The stories need to linger in reader's minds, provoke thought, and inspire kindness and compassion for others who share their existence with us.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me. Let's stay connected. I'm always happy to make new friends.
