Hands That Make A Man - my latest short story

Short stories have a way of seeping from my pores. I can't help myself. I'm addicted to writing speculative narratives that feel weird, violent and heart-breaking yet truthful in representing our humanity.
Hands That Make A Man tells a poignant story of a young boy living in Diablo Basin--a place marked by greed, danger, and violence. The narrative revolves around a tragic incident, and the boy's journey toward self-discovery.
Approximately 1500 words, I wrapped up the story a few days ago and submitted the work for publishing consideration. Two weeks is the standard response time for The Colored Lens. I've submitted to them several times in the past but the stars weren't aligned and rejection notices landed in my email box.
Still, part of the fun as a writer is living the ubiquitous quote, Never Give Up.
At some point in all of time and space, my story will prove worthy for placement in a future edition of The Colored Lens, and a profound warmth will settle in my heart.
Stay tuned, friends. If Hands That Make A Man doesn't get picked up for publication, I'll post the story here on my website and look forward to your thoughts and comments about the narrative.
Take care and know that your friendship and support are very meaningful to me, always.
