Week 1 since the release of my new book, Born of Dirt & Dust, and it's been thrilling --- both nerve-wracking and exciting --- seeing the number of readers purchasing the book, sharing their photos, videos, and posts engaging with the book and sending their congratulations.
All the while, pricking at the back of my mind, needling me to keep my fingers crossed, I am hoping, hoping readers will feel a connection to the characters in these stories, and their environments, their worlds, their struggles, and their ways of survival when born of dirt and dust.
The book is fiction. Yet the narratives feel prickly and real. No matter that the book's genre dives into fantasy, sci-fi, and horror. Certain situations demand certain choices. We do what we must to make sense of our realities.
