Community Events in July: Showcasing My Books & Building My Brand

I've always believed that Indie authors bring a special magic to the world of book publishing, especially when it comes to writing niche, unfiltered, authentic stories that shed light and truth about our humanity and the world we live in.
It's always been my dream to tell my stories in ways that blend literary fiction with elements of magical realism, dark urban fantasy, science fiction, and prickly horror. My two collections of short and flash fiction, Born of Dirt & Dust and Roxy's Not My Girl, unpack difficult and challenging circumstances that, more often than not, overwhelm my characters and push them to emotional extremes. The kind of storytelling that bites your heart, your soul, your mind.
For me, that's the fun in writing --- dropping characters into wrenching situations, both physical and psychological, and hoping for the best, which isn't always a good thing.
As an Indie author, marketing is 100% my responsibility. Meaning, I don't have the backing or the dollars to invest in national or regional or world-wide advertising, promotions, media releases, book tours, or any of the benefits traditional publishers offer their authors.

However, there are streams that can and do work well for me. Local community events, especially, are top tier, giving me the opportunity to generate awareness, sales, referrals, and networking connections, as well as helping to inspire young and first-time writers, all at one time. I always leave these events feeling good about who I am as a person and a writer.
I'm delighted to continue this marketing path in my journey of brand awareness, book sales, and helping to inspire others to write. Being a part of my local community feels welcoming, warm-hearted, and empowering. I hope you take a day or evening in your busy schedule to enjoy an outing at your local community's next upcoming event.
As always, thank you for your friendship, support, and all that you do to bring a warm smile into our world.
